How the grade is worked out
The qualification is marked out of 200. The non-exam assessment (NEA) is worth 120 marks and 60% of the award; the written examined assessment is worth 80 marks and 40%. The scaling factor for each is 1.000, so the two raw marks are simply added together.
- The NEA is externally set, internally marked and externally moderated. It is a synoptic project with a completion time of 21 hours.
- The examined assessment is externally set and externally marked: a 1 hour 30 minute written exam with a mixture of multiple-choice, short-answer and extended-response questions.
- Both assessments must be taken in the same assessment series; the marks cannot be combined across series.
- The grades available are level 1 pass, merit and distinction, and level 2 pass, merit, distinction and distinction*. Below a level 1 pass the result is unclassified (U).

About these boundaries
These are the boundaries used by the previous Revision Ninja calculator. NCFE sets grade boundaries for each series using statistical and judgemental evidence, so they change from year to year — check the latest published boundaries before you rely on a target.
Your NEA mark is provisional until NCFE has moderated it, so every target on this page can move.
