A score doesn’t tell you what to revise

A quiz score tells you a pupil did badly on Unit 6. It doesn’t tell you whether they can’t read a break-even chart or just mixed up assets and liabilities. And when a parent asks you at parents’ evening “what should she be revising?”, you want a better answer than “finance, mostly”.

Every question in Revision Ninja is tagged to a topic in the NCFE specification. When a pupil gets one wrong, the report says which topic, for example “Costs, liabilities and assets”, rather than just “Unit 6”.

What pupils do on it

The course holds 76 lessons, 97 quizzes and 940 questions, counted from the live course on 10 October 2026.

Learn, Practise, Test and Progress are the names of the pupils’ own tabs. This is what’s on each.

Learn

Written lessons and interactive books for all 8 units, with video in some lessons. The interactive books can show one section at a time, at a reading speed the pupil picks, and remember where the pupil stopped.

Practise

Sets of 12 questions in three modes: Due today, Mixed and Mistakes. Questions come back on a spaced schedule, and a question a pupil gets wrong stays on their Mistakes list until they get it right three times in a row. A wrong answer shows why that option was wrong, then explains the right one.

Test

The Diagnostic Test samples every unit in about 40 questions and gives each unit a red, amber or green result. Pupils also sit real NCFE past papers and self-mark them against the mark scheme, point by point. Multiple-choice questions are marked automatically. The grade they get is an estimate, for the written paper only.

Progress

Each pupil’s Progress page opens with “What to revise next”: up to five priorities, each linking straight to the lesson, quiz or practice set to do.

There’s XP, streaks, daily quests and badges as well. XP comes from doing the work. On past papers it never depends on the marks pupils give themselves.

The teacher console

The teacher console has seven tabs: Overview, Students, Results, Reports, Live, Set work and School. One “Showing:” control picks a class, a year group or the whole school, and stays put as you move between tabs. Here is what the main parts do.

A page for every pupil

Every pupil has a page showing what they need to revise, their strengths, their time and effort, and a timeline of what they’ve done. The revise list is built from quiz scores, the questions they got wrong in practice, the Diagnostic Test and self-marked past papers, and it points to the lesson or book to go back to. It is the same list the pupil sees on their own Progress page, so you and they are looking at the same topics.

A unit isn’t marked as weak or strong on the back of one quiz. It needs at least two quizzes or ten questions first.

One page per pupil for parents’ evening

From the Reports tab, one click prints an A4 page for every pupil in the class or year group you’ve chosen. Each page starts with a short summary, their time and effort, and what they’ve been working on. Then comes a unit-by-unit table, up to three strengths, and up to three or four things to improve. Each of those names the topic and what to do at home. A comments box follows for you to fill in.

At the bottom is a grid with a column for each of the 8 units: a blank box for your end-of-unit test score, and a grade box where you circle Level 1 or Level 2, then Pass, Merit or Distinction. It’s filled in by hand, for your own end-of-unit tests.

Quizzes and the Diagnostic Test are marked automatically. Past papers are marked by the pupil. Study time is measured only from 10 October 2026, and each report shows the date measuring began for that pupil. Anything earlier is shown as an estimate and labelled “estimated”. Prints up to 300 pupils at once.

The Diagnostic Test, one row per pupil

Under Results, the Diagnostic view has one row per pupil. It shows when they sat the test, their score and how it changed, their weakest and strongest units, and the named topics they got wrong. It also counts the answers they were sure of but got wrong, and links to what they should revise. There’s a heatmap of every unit in course order, and you can print it or download it as a CSV.

Pupils are asked how sure they are of each answer. A wrong answer they were sure of usually means a misconception rather than a gap, so it’s counted separately. Pupils are told their results are shared with their teacher.

Results has four sub-tabs: Diagnostic, Past papers, Quizzes and Re-teach.

Overview
Opens with three lists: Needs help now (pupils who’ve stopped, are scoring low, or were sure of a wrong Diagnostic answer), Re-teach next (units, with the evidence) and Doing well (pupils worth praising). The page’s “How this works” note starts: “These are pointers, not verdicts. You know your students.”
Re-teach
Lists units where at least half the pupils with results are below Strong, names the weak topics, separates misconceptions from gaps, and prints as a handout. It’s built from Diagnostic results, so it fills up once pupils have sat the test.
Quizzes
The markbook: every quiz score in one table, a row per pupil, with unit averages. Exports to CSV.
Past papers
Each pupil’s latest self-marked paper: score, estimated grade, and the topics where they got under half marks.
Set work
Set lessons and quizzes for a class with a due date and instructions, then see who has finished each one (for classes of up to 60). Share it to Google Classroom or Microsoft Teams with a button. It’s a share link. No class lists or grades move between the two systems.

How a school gets started

  1. Start the trial with your school email address. Your school is set up on that email domain straight away.

  2. Add colleagues from the School tab before they sign in. Add staff by email and choose who is a school admin. There are two roles: school admin and teacher.

  3. Pupils sign in with Google, Microsoft or their school email and password. Anyone on your school’s domain with a verified email gets a seat automatically, up to the plan’s seat count. Colleagues you’ve added as staff don’t use a seat.

  4. Classes partly sort themselves. If pupils’ email addresses contain a number, such as the 21 in chs21jsmith@, they’re filed into an “Intake 21” class. Anyone else waits in Unassigned until you move them. Pupils on a personal address can join a class list with a six-character class code, though that doesn’t give them a seat.

  5. Buy whenever you’re ready. Pay during or after the trial and pupils keep their progress.

If your school uses Google Workspace, your IT admin may need to mark Revision Ninja as a trusted app first. There’s a guide for that.

Questions

Which course and exam board is it for?

One qualification only: the NCFE Level 1/2 Technical Award in Business and Enterprise, Ofqual qualification number 603/7004/X. It covers all 8 content areas, from Entrepreneurship to the Business Plan. We don't do GCSE Business, BTEC or any other board's course, and we aren't endorsed by NCFE. The course follows NCFE's published specification and uses NCFE's past papers.

Who can see pupils' results?

Teachers at the pupil's school can see the lessons, books and quizzes they've done, quiz scores, Diagnostic results unit by unit, with the topics they got wrong, self-marked past-paper results, practice, streaks and XP, and study time. A teacher only sees pupils the school can show are its own, through its email domain or a seat it paid for. The Diagnostic Test is not private, and pupils are told their teacher can see it. Outside the school, only Revision Ninja's own site administrators can see it, and only to support or repair the service. When a school buys, the school is the data controller and we're the processor.

What do you do with the data?

It's stored in Google Cloud in London and the Netherlands, and payments go through Stripe. There's no advertising, no third-party analytics, no marketing email, and nothing is sold. We never ask for home addresses, phone numbers or dates of birth. Accounts are deleted on request by email, normally within 30 days.

What devices does it need?

A web browser on a phone, tablet, Chromebook or computer. On a phone there's a bottom tab bar, and pupils can add it to their home screen. There's no App Store app and it needs an internet connection.

Are the quiz scores and past-paper grades reliable enough to report?

Treat them as a guide. Quizzes are marked straight away on the pupil's device, so they aren't a secure record. Past papers are self-marked by the pupil against the mark scheme, apart from the multiple-choice questions, and the grade shown is an estimate for the written paper only, since the real grade also includes the NEA. Teacher screens label all of this, and the printed report says which marks the pupil gave themselves.

Is there a leaderboard, and can we control it?

Only pupils who sign in with a school email address see one. Pupils on Gmail, Outlook or other personal addresses don't see a board at all. Your school chooses whether it covers a class, a year group or the whole school, and can stop pupils changing their display name. There's no setting to switch it off completely.
